For over 60 years, the Bachrodt Family has been a large part of community growth in the Greater Rockford area. To this day the family remains very active in all facets of business as well as civic support.

The Bachrodt family opened their first Chevrolet dealership in Rockford in December 1953 on Church Street in downtown Rockford. The patriarch of the family, Lou Bachrodt, Jr., was the owner/operator of the store.

In 1962, Bachrodt built the largest Chevy Dealership in the U.S. on Christina Street. Now it's home to the RFD School Bus Depot.

In 1980 we built the beautiful facility across from Cherryvale Mall, and have added several franchises to the Chevrolet car and truck line including Buick, GMC, BMW, and Volkswagen. The Bachrodt Family also has the beautiful Bachrodt on State/ JD Byrider dealership on East State Street, across from St. Anthony's Hospital. Pat Bachrodt is the owner/ operator of these two facilities.

In 1983 Lou Bachrodt III opened a Chevrolet dealership in Pompano Beach, Florida and in 1996 built a new Chevrolet facility in Coconut Creek. In October of 2001 a Chevrolet / Kia dealership was purchased in Ocala, Florida.

The Bachrodt family led the drive to create and build the Metro Center which is today the BMO Harris Bank Center, to fundraise and build Boylan Central Catholic High School, fundraise to build St. Anthony Hospital, and many other local projects to benefit the community.

Throughout the years the family has served on many local boards including Rosecrance, Motherhouse Crisis Nursery Fundraising Board, Family Advocate Board, Advisory Board of the Salvation Army, Saint Elizabeth board, United Way Board of Directors, and Founding Member of the Hope for Haitian Committee.

Every month, a local organization is supported by events held at the Lou Bachrodt Auto mall location which include a local winter market, Rock River Valley Blood Center donor drives, Earth Day activities, Child Safety events, Autism Support Events, High School Sports drives, Music in our Schools events, Animal Adoption days, and the largest single day toy drive annually supporting the Salvation Army.
