Great day trips make for fabulous stress busters so grab your favorite PIC (that’s partner in crime in case you didn’t know) and head out of town! The best thing about being in the Rockford area is that you don’t have to go far, in any direction, to find some fun. So before we get back to normal and have graduations, weddings, or soccer games planned every weekend take some time for yourself. Of course, if it’s time to upgrade to a more road trip worthy car, truck, or SUV we’ve got ya covered. You can shop our amazing selection of new or pre-owned vehicles HERE. Oh, and we highly recommend taking the back roads!

Go North. Monroe is a quick trip over the border for some amazing sights. Grab lunch at Baumgartners, Wisconsin’s OLDEST cheese store. Tour the Minhas Brewery, the second oldest brewery in the United States! Grab some snacks and catch a movie at the Sky-Vu Drive-In just off Hwy 69.

Go East. Woodstock. The square is full of amazing shops and features one of the top Illinois farmers’ markets with live music Saturday mornings from 9-1. When you’ve had your fill of the Square you’re just a hop, skip, and a jump from the Illinois Railway Museum. It’s America’s largest railway museum featuring 400+ rail vehicles to ride on and explore. You won’t regret it!

Go South. The Quad Cities. If you haven’t explored the Rock Island Arsenal you need to. Wander Civil War cemeteries and tour Lock & Dam #15! Take a drive along the Mississippi, visit one of many antique shops, OR get lucky at one of their several casinos. Cross the Mississippi to explore downtown Davenport and their many breweries. If you’re down for some live music we highly suggest taking a quick trip north along the river on Hwy 67 to Go Fish Marina Bar & Grill. The food, view, and drinks are all excellent with a stellar lineup of bands throughout the summer.

Go West. Galena. It’s not just shopping and wineries (but those are great too)! If you’re a history buff you’ll enjoy the Galena & U.S. Grant Museum, Apple River Fort State Historic Site or the Old Blacksmith Shop. There’s even an Earth and Space Science Museum, the Woodbine Glass Museum and the Great Western Railway Depot Museum. Did we mention the wineries already?!

2020 was the year we stayed home. Make 2021 the year you go! But don’t forget before you go to make sure your ride is ready for the trip. Nothing will burst your day trip bubble like having to call a tow truck. Schedule an appointment with our Service Department and we’ll make sure you’re ready to roll…safely!
